FAB Paris marks its big return under the iconic glass dome of the Grand Palais ! We will be there from November 21st to 27th. Born from the alliance of Fine Arts Paris and La Biennale des Antiquaire, this is the 3rd edition of the Parisian event.
Our selection of Old Masters Paintings is highly accurate, but is also answering to the specific rule of every genre strictly determined at the time.
Let’s focus on the church interiors, of which we are presenting a few examples at FAB. The genre was a fruitful ground for artists who wanted to explore perspective and play with light. These architectural views open up a space, real or fantasized, illuminated by the sun’s rays that have passed through the stained-glass windows. Our recently acquired architectural views offer a rare geometric perspective, opposite to the more atmospheric one that organizes landscapes.
The Masters of landscapes Herri met de Bles, Brueghel the Younger and Pieter Gijsels used a similar recipe to build depth with colors: brown in the foreground, then green and finally blue, but never a single line.
This is just a glimpse: the treasures of our painting are much richer, and we’re still talking about them with the same passion. We will be on booth A20 from November 21st ready to share Flemish stories.
